Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski the New York Knicks and Dallas Mavericks have agreed to a blockbuster deal that should significantly upgrade the Mavericks roster. Kristaps Porzingis, Courtney Lee, Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr. should be welcomed additions to the squad as perimeter defense has been a sore spot as of late. The departure of DeAndre Jordan, Wesley Matthews and Dennis Smith Jr. will be missed but its hard to not call this an upgrade for the Mavs.

The Mavericks have utilized the one year rental services of DeAndre Jordan in an effort to make the team younger and more athletic. Naturally, we expected Wesley Matthews to be a part of any trade scenario. While DSJ made clear he would welcome a trade if ever presented with one.

A major indicator of the trade was also dropped by Woj this morning as Porzingis let the Knicks know he wanted to be moved.

The Knicks clearly wasted little time moving him as the trade was made public this afternoon. Keep in mind KP will become a restricted free agent this summer which can make things awkward but this move was great for both clubs, especially the Mavs. They have eliminated the troublesome contract of Wesley Matthews while upgrading the roster. Although injured you have to think Porzingis is highly intrigued by the opportunity to play with Luka Doncic. The two overseas stars could mature and excel in Dallas!
