Taking a Look at the Dallas Stars Franchise Best 10-Game Win Streak
The Dallas Stars seem insistent on rewriting their franchise record book this season.
Jake Oettinger set the franchise mark for wins with eight straight wins yoo; Wyatt Johnston broke Mike Modano’s record for power-play goals with a month left in the season.
For Dallas as a team, this wasn’t just a winning streak. It was the first time in Dallas history the Stars would have a streak that reached double digits.
After so many years of having a franchise record stuck at seven or eight games, this Stars team was able to stretch it out further than ever before.
Giving St. Louis the Blues
From January 23rd to February 4th, the Stars took a maximum six-for-six against the Blues. That first of three victories in a week and a half broke a skid in which the Stars had won only two of their last ten games up to that point in January. It ignited what would go on to be a franchise-record winning streak against arguably their biggest rival in St. Louis.
None of these games were close, though. In all three wins, the Stars scored a game-winning goal with 67 to 23 seconds left in regulation. Denying their spring golf bound rivals even a single point in those three contests.
Road Warriors
The Stars are one of the best teams on the road this season. On their ten-game winning streak, half of those games were won on the road. Winning in regulation or a shootout, the Stars rack up a lot of points away from home (they win a lot at the AAC too).
That point stream sits at 12 right now. Thanks to Mavrik Bourque for carrying the team on his back, scoring-wise. And Miro Heiskanen for giving Dallas their sole win over the stubborn Chicago Blackhawks last night on Sunday, March 8th.
Keeping Dallas ahead of the Minnesota Wild in the race to decide who gets home ice in the inevitable upcoming first-round matchup.
