Let’s Talk About the Hryckowian Brothers
Understandably, the Jason Robertson re-signing has been the biggest story for the Dallas Stars this off-season. It’s not the only story that’s intriguing for Dallas fans.
Justin Hryckowian made a name for himself last season; his brother Dylan Hryckowian is now shooting for the Stars.
It’s always a fun story for fans of the league when brothers are on the ice together.
Whether it’s against each other, for example, a New Jersey Devils vs a Minnesota Wild game.
Or when the siblings are playing for the same team, such as the Hryckowiens, who will be in the near future.
Northeastern Roots
The Huskies of Northeastern saw both Hryckowiens use their program’s team as a stepping stone to becoming Stars in the NHL (pun intended). One of the brothers has cemented his roster spot. The other is on the doorstep. Both Justin and Dylan played three seasons with the Huskies in the city of Boston.
Justin was more than a point-per-game player with Northeastern (101 points in 94 games). Signed with Dallas after going undrafted in March of 2024. The captain was a fan favorite in his time with the Huskies.
Dylan was the second Hryckowian to produce more than a point per game (107 points in 100 games). He was known for scoring big goals against bigger teams such as the Boston College Eagles and the Quinnipiac Bobcats. Dylan signed a two-way contract with Dallas back in March. Will be heading to Austin to play with the Texas Stars this fall.
Potential to Play Together
Much like the Tkachuk brothers with the Florida Panthers, or two of the three Hughes for the New Jersey Devils, we could see the Hryckowiens playing together in Dallas pretty soon. Since Justin usually plays left wing, and Dylan likes to play on the right, they could be playing on the same line together in the future.
It could happen as soon as this upcoming season. Injuries are inevitable, and so are call-ups from Austin. When that happens, you know it’s going to make headlines as a fun storyline within the game.
Twice the Edge
Justin has already given Dallas an extra edge, and an attitude the team has been criticized for. He stands up for his linemates on the ice when an opposing player comes after them.
Even if that player’s name is Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers, this is how you earn respect from other players and teams.
While Dylan is known to be more of an offensive player than his older brother (at least in terms of their junior years, and their time at Northeastern), both of the Hryckowian brothers have a reputation built on hard work, and an edge where they pretty much mirror each other in play style.
