A Deep Dive Into Corey Seager’s Struggles
The Rangers’ offense has struggled this year, and a big reason is due to Corey Seager.
He has a slash line of .179/.286/.639 with seven home runs and 20 RBIs. He is in the midst of the worst stretch of his career, as he is 0-for-27.
Let’s take a deeper look at what is causing this.
The thing that stands out as the thing that he is having the most issues with is his whiff rate. He is in the bottom 6 percent in the entire league. Seager has always had issues with swing and miss, but not to this extent. In 2025, he was in the bottom 27 percent, and in 2024, he was in the 56 percent.
Based on the other metrics, you can see that he is making good contact when he is hitting the ball. However, he just isn’t picking up the ball well out of the pitcher’s hand. If he can start to pick up the ball from pitchers better than he currently is, then he will look like the old Seager.
Other than his whiff rate, the rest of his metrics are league average or above league average. So if Seager can cut down on that, then he can be the same player. He is also getting a day off tonight to help him get back into that headspace.
Despite how bad Seager has looked, it is not as bad as it seems.
There is only one metric dragging him down, and if he can figure it out, he could be the player we all remember.
