Texas Rangers Pitching Being Tested Early
The Texas Rangers appear to have another elite pitching staff in 2026.
Names like Jacob deGrom, Nathan Eovaldi, Mackenzie Gore, and Jack Leiter are recognizable around the league.
The Rangers began the season against the Phillies (projected to be an MLB postseason team) and the Orioles (also projected to be a postseason team), and took both series.
While they hit a bit of a speed bump at home, going 3-3, their pitching has been pretty good so far this season.
The Rangers have the 3rd-best ERA in the American League (3.46), behind the New York Yankees and the Seattle Mariners.
They have struck out the 5th-most batters and walked the fewest. Team WHIP is 3rd in the AL as well, sitting at 1.22.
The offense has been better as well, with some players off to hot starts. Brandon Nimmo, Corey Seager, and Andrew McCutchen come to mind, and Ezequiel Duran has been pretty good as well.
The pitching has a little less to worry about so far in 2026, as the Rangers’ offense seems to be more active than in 2025.
They are scoring runs or staying in position to win even when the starting staff falters. The bullpen has also been one of the best in baseball in 2026.
The American League West is down in 2026, as teams struggle to stay around .500. The Athletics are in front at the moment, with the Astros bringing up the rear.
I expect young players like Evan Carter and Wyatt Langford to take steps forward. Joc Pederson is also looking better to start the season.
The Rangers have a real shot at being contenders in 2026, and hopefully, they will be.
