Another Look at the Entertaining Stars vs Toronto Maple Leafs Game
On Monday, April 13th, the Dallas Stars pulled off an epic comeback that’ll be remembered for a few different reasons, from battling back to a family get-together.
Most won’t call it the game of the year.
But it’ll certainly be memorable for at least a little while.
Gutsy Comeback Times Two
The Stars didn’t just come back that night at Scotiabank Arena. They did it twice. A game where both teams looked like they were both gonna miss the playoffs.
The result came down to the team that made the plays late in the third period.
Dallas Mav
Mavrik Bourque. That’s the sentence.
Mavrik willed the Stars to climb back into the game. He played a full 60 minutes to will the Stars. Stealing two points in the standings. Leaving the home team with a regulation loss. Scoring his first NHL hat trick to keep the Stars in the game, and eventually scoring the go-ahead goal.
Bourque has come on strong late into the season as a trusted depth player on the roster. The former AHL MVP might just help spark the Stars to another deep playoff run.
Maple Leafs Gonna Maple Leaf
Toronto has quite a reputation for blowing games after so many years, even blowing 3-1 series leads or scores. While blowing an early lead and a game is no surprise, the jokes all over the Internet continue to multiply. So do the angry Steve Dangle videos.
One positive takeaway from Toronto choking away another contest is their draft chances this summer. Dallas winning that game in regulation, in a way, was a win/win for both teams.
Both Robertson Brothers Score
When Dallas and Toronto play, it’s not just another NHL matchup between non-conference teams. It’s also a bit of a family reunion when the Robertson brothers play against each other. Every time these two teams play, no matter how either team is doing that season, it’ll always be one of the top storylines of the game.
Both Jason and his brother, Nick Robertson, tallied that night too—a rare accomplishment for two brothers to score against each other’s team in a game.
While the Stars are currently locked into a heated playoff battle with their rivals, the Minnesota Wild, it doesn’t mean we can’t look back at a fun one already in the archives.
Maybe get a little laugh out of it, too.
