Texas Rangers Starting 2026 Strong
If I told you a few months ago the Rangers would begin the season in Philadelphia and Baltimore and come home .500, you probably would have been happy with that.
But the Texas Rangers did not complete that on the road. Instead, they are coming home with a record of 4-2.
They took the series on the road against two teams projected to be good in 2026.
Now they will head home to start the season’s first homestand.
The Good
The Rangers have been getting timely hitting early in the season, something they never could figure out in 2025.
Overall, the pitching staff has been good. We have watched them struggle in the 9th in a few games, but they still won 4 of their first 6 games to start the season.
While it was not all due to pitching, it had a big impact on the scores. Pitching so far has been good.
Corey Seager, Andrew McCutchen, Brandon Nimmo, and others are hitting well to begin the season, and a few other players are starting to come around.
The Bad
Nathan Eovaldi has an ERA of 11.42 after his first two starts. Not ideal, as he is supposed to be the ace of the staff.
Jacob deGrom has already skipped a start with neck soreness, so that is something to watch out for. He did start on Tuesday, so he seems to be okay.
Joc Pederson is the only Ranger without a hit on the road trip. He is not looking any better than he did in 2025, when he batted under .150.
With Ezequiel Duran and Andrew McCutchen doing so well, I’m not sure that Pederson has a long leash.
The Rest
The team is 4-2 and headed home for a series against the Reds. The team is hitting, fielding, and pitching well.
Guys like Jacob Latz, Jalen Beeks, Robert Garcia, and Carter Baumler have been doing a great job on the mound.
This team is good so far.
Hopefully, they will continue winning series in Arlington and be a very good team in 2026.
