The Dallas Stars Triple Medal in the 2026 Winter Olympic Games
The 2026 Winter Olympic Games concluded in Milano/Cortina, Italy, last weekend.
Six of the Stars came back to Dallas sporting gold, silver, and Bronze from the two-week break.
Dallas sent seven players to this year’s Olympic Games. Only five other teams sent more players. All but one Star obtained a medal. While this blog is primarily about the Stars who got on the podium, we’re not forgetting about a fan favorite who also made the trip to Italy this month.
We’re not going not to mention Radek Faksa. While he wasn’t one of the Stars who earned a medal, he is still a fan favorite and represented the Czech Republic at the Olympic Games. Shout out to Faksa for competing in the world’s. There have been injuries to a couple of the guys. But injuries happen in hockey. Guys do, unfortunately, get hurt, no matter the stage, sometimes.
Golden Otter
Jake Oettinger made Dallas history. Becoming the first player in the team’s history in Texas to win Olympic gold. Neal Broten also won a gold medal while playing for the Minnesota North Stars.
While many Stars fans were hoping to see Oettinger have more playing time, we can all still be happy that he’s a gold medalist, and he didn’t get hurt on the two-week tour in Milano/Cortina.
Harley Notched the Silver
Born American but with dual Canadian citizenship, Thomas Harley notched the silver medal. He earned his place in the lineup after an impressive showing at the Four Nations Faceoff last year. He also made a selfless decision for the stuffie that was given out to him and the rest of Team Canada.
It’s worth noting that Harley won gold during last year’s Four Nations Face-off. From filling in for an injured She’s Theodore to a regular on Team Canada’s roster.
The Finntastic Four Went Bronze
Miro Heiskanen, Mikko Rantanen, Roope Hintz, and Esa Lindell all played crucial roles in helping Finland secure a medal and end the Winter Olympics on a high note. While the Fins suffered a gut-punch loss to Harley and Team Canada, the Land of a Thousand Lakes defeated Slovakia emphatically to enter the podium.
It was business as usual for the Finnish Mafia during the Olympics. Hintz and Rantanen were in on scoring goals. Heiskanen was producing offense from the blue line and helping to shut down Finland’s opposition. Lindell was the team’s usual stalwart on defense.
