One of the players vying for the starting second base position has been sidelined with an injury.

Cody Freeman showed the Rangers a lot at the end of the 2025 season.

While not guaranteed, he at least was in the discussion for either the second base spot or just making the team out of camp.

Now it looks like that will be delayed.

Injuries

Freeman

Lumbar stress reaction. He felt some discomfort, so the Rangers sent him for evaluation. It looks like he will be back to baseball activities by the end of March.

Justin Foscue

Right hamstring tightness. He left a game on February 23, and they say it is just a precaution to keep him out for a few games.

Winston Santos (Rangers No. 3 Prospect)

Left-hand fracture. Santos took a ball off the hand during live batting practice. He will return to baseball activities in around four weeks.

Cody Bradford

Left UCL surgery. Bradford is expected to return either late May or early June, after having UCL surgery last season. It is unknown if he will return to the bullpen or the rotation when he is ready.

Marc Church

Right shoulder fatigue. He has been dealing with this problem since last season. The rumor is he should be throwing bullpens before camp ends.

Jordan Montgomery

Left UCL surgery. Monty is back with the Rangers and should be ready to go sometime in late July/early August.

In Conclusion

Injuries are just part of baseball, and every team has to deal with them. That makes depth so important.

The Rangers brought in Monty for depth, and Freeman was most likely going to be a backup to Josh Smith. The team still has Ezequiel Duran, Michael Helman, and others who can field the second base position.

We wish all the recovering players well and hope they come back and are productive for the 2026 Rangers.
