Spring Training Inbound: Texas Rangers Pitchers & Catchers Report Feb. 10
Pitchers and catchers report on February 10 in Surprise, AZ.
On the pitchers and catchers horizon, the team has added veteran backstop Danny Jansen and retained Kyle Higashioka.
There are always minor league catchers in camp as well to help with all the pitchers who will be there.
The pitching has changed a lot, too. Here are some of the new faces you can expect to see.
MaKenzie Gore (left-handed starter), Alexis Diaz (right-handed reliever), Jakob Junis (right-handed reliever), and Tyler Alexander (right-handed reliever).
Also returning to the rotation are Jacob deGrom, Nathan Eovaldi, and Jack Leiter. Jake Latz and Kumar Rocker will compete for spot 5.
The pen returns Robert Garcia, Cole Winn, Chris Martin, Luis Curvelo, and Latz if he doesn’t make the rotation.
Early workouts aren’t that exciting as they try to ramp up for the season, but it does mean baseball is back.
Chris Young and the front office are excited and believe they have a competitive team to field in 2026.
“We’re really excited about this group and looking forward to getting them out there in Arizona and getting started,” Young was quoted as saying on MLB.com.
On the offensive side, of course, there are a few additions and a few subtractions.
Brandon Nimmo is one of the new faces, along with Adolis Garcia, Jonah Heim, Marcus Semien, and Jacob Webb, who are not returning for the 2026 season.
There are a lot of “if’s” going into 2026, but if those work out, this team could be dangerous. We all know how sometimes those do not work out.
I am optimistically hoping this team will surprise me and compete with the Mariners and Astros for the top spot in the West and play in October.
