Who Will the Dallas Stars Play in the 2027 Stadium Series Game?

2026 is already off to a terrible start, so let’s look ahead to 2027.
The Dallas Stars will host a Stadium Series game at AT&T Stadium on February 20, 2027.
Their opponent is currently TBD.
This is the 2nd “stadium game” the Stars will host after the 2020 Winter Classic.
There are plenty of opponents the Stars can generate viewership against. Several teams hate them, most notably the Colorado Avalanche, Vegas Golden Knights, and St. Louis Blues.
Teams are emerging as frontrunners to take on the Stars. Plenty of storylines will fill the airwaves next season.
AT&T Stadium
Arlington, Texas, will host the Stadium Series next season. Traffic is a hellscape, especially on Collins. Better leave now so you can get to the game on time. What a year Arlington will have. Tormenta: Rampaging Run at Six Flags Over Texas will open, being the 7th-tallest rollercoaster in the World. Arlington will host several FIFA World Cup games, including the Semi-Final.
I’ll save $20K and stay home. The Stadium Series will close out an incredible run of events for AT&T Stadium.
Unlikely Opponents
The Dallas Stars are best buddies with several teams.
Colorado
The Colorado Avalanche seems the most likely opponent, but not really—the Avalanche head to Utah for the 2027 NHL Winter Classic. The Stars will likely find another opponent.
St. Louis
They may keep it in the Central. The St. Louis Blues are a rival, although much more so in previous decades. The Blues are 3-0 in outdoor games, good for them.
Winnipeg
The Winnipeg Jets are a possibility, but the Heritage Classic is usually reserved for Canadian teams. The Jets will host the Heritage Classic at the Princess Auto Stadium, home of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, for the 2026-2026 season, on October 25th.
Chicago
The Chicago Blackhawks are an outside chance, considering the Stars have never played them in the playoffs since moving to Dallas. The Blackhawks are also 0-5 in Winter Classics and 1-1 in Stadium Series games.
The Blackhawks are the media darlings of the NHL, so why not an 8th outdoor game for them?
Carolina
The only possible Eastern Conference opponent is the Carolina Hurricanes. The Hurricanes and Stars can share each other’s 2nd stadium game. The Tampa Bay Lightning are another interesting choice, but Tampa Bay will host a Stadium Series game this season, on February 1st.
All 32 NHL teams will have played in a stadium game by next season. Nashville is a real possibility, again. There is one team that is the perfect opponent for the Stars.
The Perfect Opponent

Look back on the last 10 years in the NHL. No team has played them more in the playoffs than the Stars. There is a special kind of hatred between this team and the Stars, and vice versa. The Vegas Golden Knights are the ideal matchup for the Stars in the 2027 Stadium Series. The first game in the Golden Knights’ franchise history resulted in a 2-1 Vegas win @ Dallas. Three recent playoff series make this a favorable matchup. Golden Knights Captain Mark Stone is a severely disliked player for Stars fans. He knocked Miro Heiskanen out for several months during a January game last season.
You want to see fights? Look no further than the City of Sin. Looking ahead, there is a possibility for a Western Conference Final matchup between the two teams this season. Imagine the excitement and headlines for a matchup of the Vegas Golden Knights @ Dallas Stars. Vegas is one of the many possible Stadium Series opponents.
Edmonton
Canadian teams coming down for a Stadium Series game or Winter Classic is an uncommon occurrence. The Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Stars have an interesting history. The Oilers knocked the Stars out of the Western Conference Final for two consecutive years. Connor McDavid is a marquee matchup player for the Stars in this game.
You have one half of the equation for the Stadium Series game. You want two great hockey teams playing in Arlington in a game where many extra eyes will watch. You realistically want the Colorado Avalanche for the headlines. Vegas and Edmonton are also prime opponents.
Get ready for a special day, regardless of who the Stars play.
