The Quinnen Williams Effect
Jerry Jones is not afraid to make a big swing.
Following the departure of Micah Parsons, the Dallas Cowboys felt a hole in their defensive line.
So, Jones made a swing and hit: Quinnen Williams from the New York Jets in exchange for a 2026 second-round draft pick, a 2027 first-round draft pick, and DT Mazi Smith.
How Much Did the Team Improve Post-Trade?
Williams made an impact on Dallas right away. In his first game as a Cowboy, Williams posted a PFF defensive grade of 90.8, ranking first among all defensive linemen. Over 129 snaps with Dallas, Williams has generated two sacks and 22 total pressures.
In Week 12 against the Philadelphia Eagles, Williams recorded a career-high eight quarterback pressures.
And the seven-year veteran ranks among the best in the NFL in pass-rush win rate since joining Dallas.
What About Team Stats?
Williams sparked a turnaround for the Dallas defense.
Opponents are scoring 9.1 fewer points per game, and sacks per game have increased by about 1.3 sacks per game.
Opposing teams are struggling more with the run. Yards-per-rush dropped by 22.2 rushing yards per game. Meanwhile, the yards-per-play has been brought to 5.3 yards-per-play, near league average.
Before acquiring the former Jet, the Cowboys were known for a sloppy and inconsistent defense.
However, Williams’ arrival not only patched up the line but also strengthened the unit all around.
