The Rangers Face Houston Astros in Crucial Series

The Rangers will start a three-game series against the Houston Astros.

This could be a big chance for them to get back into the race for the division, as they are five games back of the Astros.

The Rangers also just need to keep winning as they sit 1.5 games back of the Mariners for the final wild card spot.

Tonight, they will have Merrill Kelly take the ball, and he will be opposed by Astros ace Hunter Brown. Saturday will be a matchup of Jacob deGrom and Luis Garcia, and the finale will feature Patrick Corbin against Framber Valdez.

The Rangers will need to at least win the series if they want to compete for the division and to try to keep pace with the Mariners or gain some ground on them. The Rangers have been hot lately before they dropped the final two games against the Arizona Diamondbacks. They have been dealing with injuries as they have lost their middle infield in Seager and Semien, as well as Adolis Garcia, who had been hot since returning from the injured list.

Michael Helman, Alejandro Osuna, Cody Freeman, and Ezequiel Duran have stepped up for the Rangers in this time.

The team has still gotten big contributions from Wyatt Langford, Josh Jung, and others who have been staples in the lineup.

Jack Leiter has stepped big too in this time as he has pitched like Nathan Eovaldi. He has allowed only four runs in his last three games and has looked like the guy that the Rangers thought they were getting when they drafted him second overall.

DeGrom has been pitching like himself as he gives the Rangers a chance to win every time that he is on the mound for them. He had gone on a bit of a rough stretch, but got back on track with five scoreless innings against the Athletics.

It is always a big series when the Astros come to town, and it is bigger this time with the factors surrounding this one, and it should be a fun time.

Hopefully, the Rangers can get back on track and claw closer to the division lead and gain ground on the Mariners in the wildcard hunt.
