She became the fastest rookie in league history to reach 200 points, 50 rebounds, and 50 assists. A feat that showcases her all-around skills. Her selection as a WNBA All-Star starter, a rare honor for a rookie, further solidifies her status as a standout player. In early August, Bueckers broke the Wings single-season assists record. She became the fastest rookie to reach 500 points and 100 assists, a milestone that few rookies have achieved.

On August 20 against the Los Angeles Sparks, Bueckers showcased her scoring prowess by scoring 44 points in an 81-80 loss. With her 44 points, Bueckers tied Cynthia Cooper’s WNBA rookie single-game scoring record, a testament to her scoring ability. The point guard also made history by becoming the first player in WNBA history to score 40-plus points while shooting 80% from the field.

So far this season, Bueckers has not only been a standout performer but also a leader on the court. She is averaging 19.4 points, 5.1 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game. Bueckers is shooting a stellar 47.1% from the field and 34% from three-point land. She is also a great free-throw shooter, shooting 88.5% from the charity stripe. Bueckers leads all rookies across major categories: points, assists, rebounds, and steals.

Bueckers is the front-runner for the Rookie of the Year. Sonia Citron (Mystics) is also getting attention, and her team is in playoff contention, but Bueckers’ numbers speak for themselves. From milestone achievements and All-Star honors to record-breaking scoring nights, she’s seamlessly transitioned her collegiate dominance to the professional stage.

Even with the Wings facing team struggles, Bueckers has given the Wings a player to build the team around.
