Micah Parsons Demands to Be Traded…Will It Happen Though?

If you couldn’t tell it’s training camp around the National Football League, you sure can now.
Look at Washington, where their star wide receiver Scary Terry McLaurin has requested a trade because his contract has not been extended to his desired terms.
You can now add Micah Parsons to that list, who has stated he no longer wants to play for the Dallas Cowboys and would like to be traded—same story as seasons past, just different players this time around.
Requesting a trade is a player’s way of saying Give me exactly what I want, or I will take my talents somewhere else.
The problem with this strategy, however, is that the teams do not have to trade the player if they do not desire to.

Jerry Jones has seen and been around these types of circuses more times than not, and also more times than not, the player has gotten paid, and everything seemed all okay in Cowboys Land. Will this season be different? I wouldn’t bet the house on it. The Cowboys know they need Parsons to be successful, and Parsons knows that if he’s traded, it would most likely be to a non-contender where he would have to play out this season before hitting the free agent market to get his money. The problem with that scenario is that a player is only an injury away from his career being altered or over completely.
Dallas has paid its star players in the past, and if you look at just last season, you can see that they pay market or even over market value for some players. Is it a wise strategy? If you win the Super Bowl, anything short of that is questionable. Dak Prescott got his money, and so did Cee Dee Lamb. Now it’s Parsons’ turn to see the money and see if his stance changes once he gets the contract he wants. If he doesn’t want to play for the Cowboys, he will turn the contract down and can get traded at that point. Odds say that won’t happen, as once a player sees the money, they are committed, just like when they were drafted. Same old swan song that goes around training camps when it is contract time.
Cowboys Nation, I wouldn’t worry that your star defensive player will be playing somewhere else this season. Players will get paid, and once they are, this whole circus will be over, and it will be back to football as usual – checking the Dallas Cowboys live scores like nothing ever happened.
When the Washington Commanders and Dallas Cowboys meet up for the first time this season, I would bet Terry McLaurin will be suited up for Washington, and Micah Parsons will be playing his usual all-NFL style of defense for the Dallas Cowboys.
Check back next week, and let’s all see how the drama unfolds.
