Checking Out the Dallas Stars’ Ratings in NHL 25

EA has released its annual edition of the NHL in NHL 25.
Like everybody else, the Dallas Stars saw their players rated.

Looking at these ratings, we will see an up-and-down balanced team.

We will also see the yearly occurrence where somebody on the team is underrated.

Let’s also give the architect Jim Nill for his work as the general manager in building such a complete team.

3 Guys in The 90s

Miro Heiskanen and Jason Robertson are, not surprisingly, the highest-rated Stars in the game, at 92 and 91, respectively. It is important to note that NHL 25, like all the rest of the games, is based on how they performed the previous year. This includes any perceived ups or downs from the year before in the eyes of the game developers.

Heiskanen’s rating would be higher if he scored more points. Robertson’s rating is arguably fair, given the drop in points due to his sacrifices for coach Pete Deboer before last season began.

Coming in at a 90 is the goalie Jake Oettinger. The lone all-star selection from last year’s team. His excellent play in the postseason is most likely what got Oettinger into the 90s.

Johnston’s Rating is Too Low

Heading into season number three, Wyatt Johnston is the latest Star not to be given enough credit for how good he is. It’s not much different from all-star selections or the NHL awards (aside from the Jim Gregory award). An overall rating of 87 is just a little too low.

With Johnston starting the season with a minor injury, he still saved a goal on Thursday’s tilt in Nashville on October 10th. Most people have Wyatt as either a top-three goal scorer in Dallas or putting the most picks in the back of the net. He’s also one of the team leaders in points. Being a top point-getter on a Stanley Cup contender and somebody who can backcheck, he probably deserves a 90.

Stankoven Will Climb

Coming into the game with an 84 overall rating, Stars fans don’t need a crystal ball to see that Logan Stankoven’s number will be pumped up for future EA NHL games. Having a rating in the mid-80s for a rookie is not only a good one but what you would expect for somebody who should be a Calder Trophy finalist for Rookie of the Year.

Given the updates modern gaming sees monthly, Stankoven’s cooking on Thursday night, October 10th, vs. the Nashville Predators will likely be reflected in future updates or installments. He’s already got a leg up on the rest of the competition, having played a couple dozen games last season.

Looking at the Whole Team

Looking at the roster starting the season, you have Heiskanen topping the rankings at 92 overall, with veteran defensive defenseman Brendan Smith at ‘the bottom,’ clocking in at 78.

Four players on the team were given a special skill in the game. Heiskanen with his backchecking, Robertson’s ‘shape zone’ ability, Otter’s energy, and Roope Hintz’s wheels due to his speed.

Of all 32 teams, the Stars are collectively the highest overall rated team in the game, with 274 points on a 92 for offense and defense and a 90 for goaltending.
Edging out the Vancouver Canucks, Tampa Bay Lightning, and the New York Rangers, who all tied for second with 272 points.
