Bäck was defined by his two-way capabilities entering his draft year., but scouts saw hockey smarts when it came to dishing out the puck. Eliteprospects.com stated the Swedish center could deliver “crisp passes” and provide “decent scoring ability, but more importantly, [be] a fine team player.”
His numbers prove it. His assists increased from 18 in his first season in the AHL to 22, followed by 29 last season. Bäck recorded career highs in goals (7), assists (29), and points (36) in 59 games played through the 2023-24 campaign. Fifety-nine is the least number of games played for back in the AHL. In seven playoff games, the Swede collected two goals and three assists for five points.
Faceoff
Bäck dominated in the circle. The 24-year-old blew past his win percentage of 42.3% in the 2023 preseason to 61.5% this year.
In four games played, he took on 26 draws and won 16 of them.
Bäck could be a steady presence in the bottom six while Mavrik Bourque remains out of the lineup due to injury.
