Texas Rangers Sputtering to the End

The Rangers had a big series against the Mariners, just like the end of the 2023 regular season.
The results were the same, as the Texas club lost three out of four against the Mariners.
As the Rangers made one last legitimate push towards the postseason, Seattle put that dream to rest. It was a small dream to begin with.
The Rangers will finish with less than 80 wins, as they did in five of the past seven seasons (under 30 in the COVID year).
They need to begin acquiring fresh talent and see what they have in the minors.
Rangers fans are disappointed with the 2024 season’s results. They have a right to be; the team is coming off a World Series Championship.
Adolis Garcia has not played well, Marcus Semien is not looking his best, and Nathaniel Lowe has taken a step back. This team looks just plain tired.
Jonah Heim may be the best example of a man who looks tired. He has not been himself pretty much all season. I can’t imagine catching as many innings as he has over the past 2 seasons.
Needs

The team needs either to retain the services of David Robertson and Kirby Yates or replace the two guys who have been consistent out of the pen. Everyone else has either suffered from injury or just been plain ineffective.
They need a power-hitting right-handed bat. That was supposed to be Adolis, but it has not been. They need that person to be an outfielder.
They are going to need rotation pieces. Max Scherzer will be gone, Nathan Eovaldi could be gone, Jacob deGrom may or may not last a whole season, and Kumar Rocker and Jack Leiter need to prove they belong still.
Starting pitching could still be on the Rangers radar this offseason. The team has a lot of needs to fill.
Corey Seager and Marcus Semien are not getting any younger. Who knows how long Seager will be able to play shortstop before he loses his skillset?
Can Josh Jung stay healthy? Not so far, but he is young, so hopefully, that changes.
While the Rangers are not the White Sox, they are also not the Baltimore Orioles. They have work to do to improve as a team, and I believe they will do just that if Chris Young and the company are given the money to do it.
While the season wasn’t a disaster, it was unexpected. We still have 2023 to consider and enjoy, but that will only last so long.
For some fans, it is already out of their minds. The Rangers are limping down the stretch, and hopefully, they will be able to reboot and come back strong in 2025.
