When you’ve lost six games in a row, you typically don’t want to play the best team in the league.
However, that is exactly what the Dallas Wings did as they welcomed the 11-1 Connecticut Sun to the College Park Center Saturday afternoon.

Fans at the College Park Center always stand until the Wings score their first basket of the game. Today, they stood for a while as the Sun jumped out to a 10-0 run before Dallas finally scored their first basket at the 7:14 mark of the first quarter. That slow start continued throughout the quarter, as Dallas shot just 35.3% from the field in the first and trailed 27-17 after one.

With 2:49 left in the half, the Wings went on a 6-0 run to cut the Sun lead down to seven, but at the break, Connecticut would lead 43-33, which was just about what the deficit was for most of the first half.

After halftime, things exploded for the Wings.

Dallas scored just 13 points in the 3rd quarter to put themselves down 68-46, a hole that they couldn’t dig out of.

When the final buzzer sounded, Dallas had lost their sixth straight game by a score of 85-67. The Wings shot just 37.7% from the field and 6.2% from deep while scoring just 67 points on the night.

Dallas did not have a single player in the + as far as +/- goes, with the entire starting five at -6 or worse.

It was an overall challenging day for Dallas, who doesn’t have long before they’ve got to figure it out with a tough three-game road trip coming up.
