It’s impossible to replace someone like Natasha Howard.
Since joining the Wings prior to last season, Howard has been the perfect veteran to mix with the Wings young core.

When Howard broke her foot in the first game of the season, Dallas could only hope to fill at least some of her shoes… and that is precisely what has happened so far.

The Wings announced the signing of Monique Billings to a hardship contract while Howard remains on the sideline, and it has paid off in a big way so far.

In four games with the Wings, Billings has averaged 15.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game, and Dallas has won two straight.

Billings has started three of the four games and has averaged 20 points, 10 rounds, and 3 assists in those contests.

Sunday night, the Wings defeated the Sparks in a narrow 84-83 victory. Billings scored 18 points and a team-high 12 rebounds, her second double-double since joining the Wings.

Dallas won its first back-to-back of the season after taking down the Mercury in Phoenix on Saturday before their defeat of the Sparks to wrap up the week.

The two wins saw the Wings’ record jump to above .500 at 3-2, which is good for fifth in the WNBA standings.

The Wings will not be back in action until Friday, when they travel to Connecticut to play their fourth of five straight road games against the Sun.
