Wyatt Johnston is quickly becoming a franchise great.
The Dallas Stars are one win away from an appearance in the Western Conference Final, thanks to his efforts.

The phenom turned 21 a few hours after Game 4 and set a franchise record for the ages before that number. Johnston already has seven goals this postseason with more games to follow.

Now, the Stars head home for Game 5 with a chance to eliminate the Colorado Avalanche.

The Stars have them on the ropes with a chance to finish out the series against a struggling Avalanche.

Wyatt Johnston Leads the Charge in Denver

Wyatt Johnston is now 21 years old. He leads the Stars in franchise history for most goals by a player under that age. He leads the team in goals this playoff year with seven while also 2nd in points with 11 in 11 games. Going into Denver and taking two is a massive feat to behold for the Stars.

This 3-1 series lead is thanks in part to an offensive outbreak led by Johnston and Logan Stankoven. Stankoven recorded two goals in Game 3, while Johnston scored twice in Game 4. The Stars have one goal in mind: do not go back to Denver in this series.

Finish Them

Game 5 is in Dallas on Wednesday night. The Stars have a chance to eliminate the Avalanche while advancing to the Western Conference Final. The offense is critical to their success so far, but the defense is on another level. Game 4 didn’t just frustrate the Avalanche; it bamboozled them. Dominating the Avalanche while finishing strong eluded the Stars in Games 1 and 2. The Avalanche have led a game in this series for zero seconds. Their Game 1 victory came at the hands of a remarkable comeback preceding their overtime game-ender. Firing on all cylinders lately gives them a chance to knock out the Avalanche.

The Stars have to get there first. The last time they held a 3-1 series lead against the Avalanche in 2020, they needed a Game 7 overtime victory. The Stars need to get there first, but the Western Conference Final is in their crosshairs. The Avalanche are a strong team playing with their season on the line.

If the Stars can eliminate them, then it’s off to the Western Conference Final to either play the Vancouver Canucks or the Edmonton Oilers.
The Avalanche still have fight left in them, so it’s up to the Stars to end their season.
