Let’s recap three takeaways from the Dallas Wings’ preseason victory over the Indiana Fever.

1) Women’s Basketball is on the Rise

Coming off a season in which the WNBA set recent highs in attendance, TV viewership, and more, the WNBA’s rise was on full display on Friday night at the College Park Center.

A sellout preseason game is almost unheard of in any sport, yet we saw that tonight as fans packed the arena to watch the Wings take down Caitlin Clark and the Fever. This season is expected to be the biggest in the W’s history.

2) Arike Ogunbowale is Still a Bucket

With the game tied and less than 20 seconds left on the clock, Arike Ogunbowale held the ball before draining a step-back three with just three seconds remaining on the clock to put the Wings ahead.

Those were three of Ogunbowale’s 19 points and the three biggest points of the game. Jaelyn Brown led the Wings with 21 points on the night.

3) Caitlin Clark is Going to Have an Amazing WNBA Career

The Caitlin Clark show did not disappoint. Clark had 21 points, most of them coming in the first half, but Clark’s range was on full display.

The Wings did a good job defensively on Clark in the second half, holding her to just a few buckets.

Overall, the Wings did come out on top, but as Arike Ogunbowale said after the game:

“This game doesn’t count for anything.”

The real winner tonight was women’s basketball.

This was a great night for the fans, players, and WNBA as a whole, and there will be plenty more of those nights as the season rolls on.
