We are a mere 10 days from opening day for the Texas Rangers. This seems like a good time for a full roster projection.

I am never entirely right, but I think I will be close. So please sit back and enjoy my final attempt at a full 26-man roster projection.

Pitching

The rotation will include Nathan Eovaldi, Dane Dunning, Jon Gray, Andrew Heaney, and Cody Bradford. I feel like I am 100% correct on this one. It is incredibly similar to last year’s rotation.

Bradford has earned it in Spring Training, and the other 4 were already set without injury or disaster.

The bullpen is a little more complicated, but here is what I project to happen:

Cl – Jose LeClerc

Josh Sborz

Kirby Yates

Brock Burke

Grant Anderson

Jake Latz

Marc Church

David Robertson

I’d like to see Danny Duffy make the team, but I don’t think it will happen. Latz has options, as do many of the others.

Fielders

I don’t believe I am going to have many surprises for you guys in this list, but here it is:

Catchers:

Jonah Heim

Andrew Knizner

Sam Huff has already been optioned down to the minors but could be called up at any point during the season.

Infield:

Marcus Semien

Corey Seager

Josh Jung

Jared Walsh

Ezequiel Duran

Justin Foscue

I don’t believe that Josh Smith will make the team; I think that Foscue will get the spot instead. The Rangers like Smith, but I believe both Durna and Foscue have more upside.

Outfield:

Adolis Garcia

Leody Taveras

Evan Carter

Travis Jankowski

Wyatt Langford

I believe that if Seager is not ready by opening day, Josh Smith will make the club, but if Seager is ready to go, then no Smith.

Jack Leiter, Cole Winn, Antoine Kelly, and Zak Kent, among others, will see major league time this year (in my opinion) but not to start the season.
