The Dallas Stars are heating up at the right time. For the last three games, Dallas has dominated opponents over the in every aspect except… for goals allowed in Tuesday’s 7-6 OT win against the San Jose Sharks.

The Stars surged through the Central Division from Jan. 2 to Feb. 17. The boys dropped six of the next seven contests until their current three-game win streak.

Jake Oettinger has stood between the pipes for all three victories. In the first two wins, he recorded .962 and .913 save percentages before a lackluster .700 performance forced the Stars to win in overtime fashion. The Otter could be entering playoff mode, where he currently holds a .917 save percentage and 2.64 GAA through 28 appearances.

Chris Tanev registered a +1 rating in his Stars debut, which is what most would be happy with for a defensive defenseman who just joined the team. Tanev is slotted on the right hand side, and Miro Heiskanen has not moved from the same side on the top pairing. There were whispers that Heiskanen could go the left side, where he dominated last year. For now, head coach Pete DeBoer refuses to shake up the defensive pairings.

The Stars play the Anaheim Ducks tonight before visiting LA tomorrow. Then, they play a red-hot Florida squad that received significant upgrades over the past couple days. From there, their schedule drops in competitiveness, and they should be able to continue to outplay the opposition.

In the last three games, Dallas limited the Winnipeg Jets and San Jose to 69 shots while generating 114 shots.

Jason Robertson is on a four-game point streak (4 points), while rookie sensation Logan Stanvoken is making an immediate impact. The 21-year-old has eight points in his last five games, including two goals and two assists in Tuesday’s victory. He is one of several forwards that are bound to make an impact within the next couple of seasons.

Dallas is primed to continue their hot streak. Their biggest splash in the trade market was bringing Tanev out of Calgary.
