Wednesday afternoon will mark the first official workout for the 2024 Texas Rangers. With pitchers and catchers finally reporting many Ranger fans are rightfully looking towards Opening Day.

March 28th, 2024 will be one of the most special days in Texas Rangers history as the club will raise its first World Series Championship banner before they take on the Chicago Cubs at Globe Life Field to open up their 2024 campaign.

Although, it’s only February 8th, looking ahead is fun. Let’s predict the Texas Rangers 2024 Opening Day Starting Lineup.

C – Jonah Heim – Last season, Jonah Heim established himself as one of the best backstops in all of baseball.

In 131 games, Heim slashed .258/.317/.438 with 18 home runs and 95 RBI. Heim also made his first all-star game appearance where he started behind the plate for the American League.

The Rangers brought in Andrew Knizner to take some of the load off Heim who caught all of the Rangers 17 playoff games. However, there is no doubt that Jonah Heim is the 1A behind the plate.

1B – Nathaniel Lowe – The improvement that Nathaniel Lowe made on the defensive side of the ball in 2023 was substantial.

Lowe won his first Gold Glove just a season after widely being considered one of the worst defensive first basemen in baseball. At the plate, it wasn’t quite the same numbers Lowe put up in 2022 but he was still able to slash .262/.360./414 with 17 home runs and 82 RBI.

After playing 161 out of 162 games in 2023, Lowe is someone who could benefit from some days off in 2024 so we’ll see if Bruce Bochy can find him some.

2B – Marcus Semien – The “Captain” of the Rangers will be back for the 3rd year of his 7-year contract in Arlington.

Semien had a superstar season in 2024 hitting 29 home runs and driving in 100 from the leadoff spot. Alongside Corey Seager, the Rangers have the best middle infield in the MLB and they will be running it back in 2024.

SS – Corey Seager – The aforementioned Seager will miss most of Spring Training after having surgery to repair a Sports Hernia last month in Phoenix. However, the Rangers expect Seager to be ready for Opening Day.

Despite only playing 119 games, Seager slashed .327/.390/.623 with 33 home runs and 96 RBI which was good for second place in the AL MVP voting.

This season, Seager projects to be a top player in the league and will join Yankees duo Aaron Judge and Juan Soto as frontrunners for the AL MVP award.

3B – Josh Jung – One of the most intriguing storylines for the Rangers in 2024 will be how Josh Jung’s sophomore season pans out.

Jung broke out last year in his rookie campaign slashing .266/.315/.467 with 23 home runs and 70 RBI all while playing a stellar third base.

There is no doubt that Jung will factor into the Rangers’ plans for a long time and it will be fun to see what he brings in 2024.

LF – Evan Carter – Getting to see a full 162 games from Evan Carter will be a sight to see for any baseball fan.

Carter took the league by storm at just 21 years old last year slashing .300/.417/.500 in 17 playoff games as the Rangers took home their first World Series title.

Playing a full season should pan out some of Carter’s struggles against lefties. The scary part for the rest of the league is that Evan Carter is still a rookie.

CF – Leody Taveras – Last season was a make-or-break year for Leody Taveras and he established himself as the best 9-hole hitter in the MLB.

Taveras slashed .266/.312/.421 with 14 home runs 67 RBI while playing a great defensive center field.

Eventually, the Rangers would like to see Evan Carter slide over to center but for now, it’s Leody Taveras’ position to keep.

RF – Adolis Garcia – If Rangers fans didn’t like Adolis Garcia enough, they do now after what we did in 2023.

The Rangers postseason hero dominated the ALCS leading Texas to their first pennant since 2011. Garcia had a dominant regular season as well crushing 39 Home Runs and 107 RBI.

2024 is expected to be another great year for Garcia and baseball fans are excited to see what kind of show he will bring next.

DH – Ezequiel Duran – This is quite possibly the first and only surprise of these predictions but I think that the starting DH spot will be filled by Ezequiel Duran to start the season.

I know many of you wanted to see Wyatt Langford’s name in this spot and rightfully so but there is a strong possibility Langford starts the season in the minor leagues.

Duran is more than capable of taking the starting DH role after playing a great shortstop in the absence of Corey Seager last season. Duran at DH may not be the name you’re looking for but as of now, it’s the most likely option.

SP – Nathan Eovaldi – Big Game Nate is going to start another big game on Opening Day of 2024.

Eovaldi had a great regular season and was a huge piece to the Rangers’ first title in 2023. With Jordan Montgomery still not resigned, it only makes sense that Eovaldi takes the bump to open the Rangers’ title defense.
