Thursday, February 1st is the first day that WNBA Free Agents can sign with teams and the Dallas Wings have reportedly already made a splash.
According to multiple sources, Kalani Brown is expected to return to the Wings on a multi-year deal at some point later this week.
Brown is rumored to be turning down more money to return to Dallas for multiple years.
Throughout the free agency period, Brown reportedly received interest from the Los Angeles Sparks, Seattle Storm, Atlanta Dream, and Las Vegas Aces before deciding to return to the Dallas Wings.
Last season, Brown averaged 7.8 points and 4.5 rebounds in 32 games with the Wings.
Amongst the entire WNBA Brown was first in offensive rating (123.8) and true shooting percentage (.688).
Kalani Brown got a bulk of the Wings’ minutes off the bench down the stretch and was an extremely valuable piece when she would sub in for fellow 6’7 center Teaira McCowan.
The Dallas Wings won’t be amongst the biggest spenders in the WNBA this free agency but bringing Kalani Brown back is a huge win.
First-year Head Coach Latricia Trammell expressed a strong desire to keep the majority of the Wings 2023 squad and resigning Brown is a good first step in doing so.
The Wings 2024 season will tip off on Wednesday, May 15th when Dallas takes on the Chicago Sky at the College Park Center.
