Every offseason, MLB Network lists the top ten players at each position in Major League Baseball.

Last night, the Network unveiled its list of Top 10 Catchers, and one of the best catchers in all of baseball was left off the list.

In 2023, Jonah Heim started the All-Star Game behind the plate for the AL, won a Gold Glove, and drove in 95 runs all while winning a World Series.

Surely, all that would land you in the Top 10 for your respective position right? Well, according to MLB Network that’s wrong.

The “Shredder” which famously ranks the players came up with this list last night.

  1. Adley Rutschman, BAL (Last year: 3)
  2. Will Smith, LAD (2)
  3. Sean Murphy, ATL (4)
  4. J.T. Realmuto, PHI (1)
  5. William Contreras, MIL (NR)
  6. Willson Contreras, STL (5)
  7. Alejandro Kirk, TOR (6)
  8. Yainer Diaz, HOU (NR)
  9. Cal Raleigh, SEA (NR)
  10. Gabriel Moreno, AZ (NR)

To have any Top 10 Catcher list without Jonah Heim is downright ridiculous. Sure, Jonah Heim isn’t the best catcher in baseball but he is 100% somewhere in the Top 10.

Heim should be somewhere between 5-7 on this list and the fact that he isn’t takes some legitimacy away from these rankings.

Tonight, the Network where unveil their Top 10 Shortstops where Rangers superstar Corey Seager should be an undisputed number one choice.
