Jordan Montgomery was a big reason that the Rangers won the World Series in 2023. He played a pivotal part in the post season run.

There is a lot of talk about where the free agent pitcher will end up, and Texas is one of the main locations sited.

Montgomery deserves what he gets salary wise.

So should the Rangers try to re-sign him or go elsewhere?

The team should make signing him a priority. They need starting pitching and he is comfortable here.

Plus he gets free bbq for life if he signs with the Rangers.

Current Pitching Staff

Right now the starting rotation includes Dane Dunning, Jon Gray, Nathan Eovaldi, Andrew Heaney and Tyler Mahle.

Heaney was fantastic out of the pen and as a spot starter in the post-season, and I wouldn’t mind seeing him there again.

Montgomery would add some depth to a rotation that is pretty thin at the moment.

Players like Cody Bradford and Owen White could fill in. Jack Leiter or Cole Winn could be ready at some point.

I personally would rather have Jordan Montgomery.

New York is also interested, which is funny since they are the ones that traded him away to begin with. They did not see him as a viable post-season option. oops.

The Kind of Help Needed

Do you as a fan trust the current rotation? Most people I talk to do not.

They want someone else, and most want Montgomery.

Repeating as World Series champions in baseball is extremely difficult. The Rangers are going to attempt to do just that.

With the imminent return of Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer at some point in the 2024 season, the odds are not terrible that they could repeat.

I believe that it is highly important that the Rangers re-sign Jordan Montgomery. Not only is he comfortable here, he is a power left handed starter that can eat up innings.

Having Andrew Heaney in the bullpen would be a massive luxury. Jordan Montgomery would make that a reality.

Don’t be surprised if Gumby was re-sign with Texas. I am hoping that happens soon.
