2023 is now officially in the books with the Dallas Stars not ending the year quietly. Several key victories at the end of 2023 help them maintain the division race. Pulling off a miracle in Nashville is the best game of 2023. The Stars trailed 2-1 with under 15 seconds left and won the game in regulation with two quick goals. Back-to-back wins at home against the Chicago Blackhawks completed the slate for Stars hockey in 2023. 2024 is among us with hopes of this being the year for the franchise.

Game in Nashville

The Stars are now the only team in NHL history to win a game in regulation after trailing by one with under 15 seconds left. A 2-0 deficit in the 3rd period was no match for the Stars as they pulled off the absolute stunner to go into the Christmas holiday. Craig Smith and Jani Hakanpää combined to score with 15 and 4 seconds remaining to shock the Predators in Nashville. The Stars become the only team ever to accomplish this feat. The 2nd closest is also the Stars with the Boston Miracle in 1995.

Back-to-Back Against Chicago

A loss ended the road schedule for 2023 in St. Louis. Fireworks blasted off inside and outside with back-to-back victories to ring in the new year. Back-to-back wins with hat tricks in each game dispatched the Blackhawks and ended 2023. Roope Hintz scored the game-winner in overtime during the first game with three goals. Mason Marchment added another three goals with an 8-1 shellacking of the Blackhawks in the final game of 2023.

Lots of memorable moments filled every game in 2023. Making it to the Western Conference Final and then routinely scoring 7-8 goals per game and even adding a 10 spot in there to the memory bank. 2023 is over but not the lasting impact Stars hockey made. 2024 didn’t start off great with a loss to the Canadiens but a valiant effort nonetheless. The Stars are hoping for a better 2024. This team is on the cusp of a Stanley Cup title. An appearance in the Stanley Cup Final will do wonders for this fanbase. 2024 is here with lots of hockey coming up.
