No matter how many times you pinched or slapped yourself, you weren’t dreaming the Texas Rangers won the 2023 World Series.
For Texas, their first title comes after a year of injuries, streaks, and losing the division on the last day of the regular season.
The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex experienced its first sports championship since the Mavs took home their first title way back in 2011.
DFW joined Boston and LA as the only markets to win an MLB, NBA, NHL, and NFL championship since 1995.
If you were in the metroplex last night you could get a feel for just what this title meant to the fans.
The Rangers’ official watch party sold out early yesterday afternoon to the point where the team had to add more seats… and then it sold out again.
As a result, more than 20,000 Rangers fans packed Globe Life Field to witness history. Not to mention the thousands more at Texas Live who rung in the championship with confetti and celebrations.
The American Airlines Center showed the final out on the big screen after a Mavs 114-105 win over the Chicago Bulls. After the win and creed blasting through the ACC Mavs CEO Cynt Marshall said “it doesn’t get any better than this”.
Mavs fans likely left the ACC to the sound of car horns and parades in the streets of downtown Dallas last night as the metroplex went wild with fireworks and celebrations.
DFW won’t have to wait long to officially celebrate. The Rangers World Series parade will take place on Friday afternoon in Arlington’s entertainment district.
Only one team goes home happy every year and this year, it’s your Texas Rangers. Enjoy this DFW you deserve it more than anyone.
