The Texas Rangers magical season is shaping up to have a magical ending as the season’s final days near.

With four games left to play, the Rangers magic number to win the AL West sits at just two.

The Rangers will take on the Seattle Mariners this weekend in the final four games of the regular season. Last weekend in Arlington, Texas swept Seattle in a series that drew over 100,000 fans into Globe Life Field.

With two wins, two Astros losses, or a win and a Houston loss, the Rangers will be AL West Champions for the first time since 2016.

Entering play on Thursday, the Rangers have a 91.6% chance to win the division and a 99.1% chance to make the playoffs according to Fan Graphs.

If the Rangers were to finish off the West they would secure a first round bye in the postseason and would face the winner of the 6/3 Wild Card matchup with games one and two being at Globe Life Field in Arlington.

For Texas, it wasn’t an easy road to this point despite being in first place for most of the season.

In fact, just a little over two weeks ago, the Rangers trailed the then first place Houston Astros by three games which was their largest deficit of the season.

The Rangers have had to overcome injuries from key players such as Corey Seager, Jacob deGrom, Max Scherzer, Josh Jung, Adolis Garcia, and Jonah Heim.

With those injuries came a streaky ballclub down the stretch. The Rangers went on three separate losing streaks of four or more games since the start of August.

However, Texas’ 7-3 record in their last ten games has kept them right where they need to be.

Despite all of the ups downs and injuries, the 2023 Texas Rangers are one win away from the postseason.
