Last week, the Wings announced that they had signed former EuroLeague MVP Kitija Kit Laksa as they continue to revamp their roster ahead of the 2023 WNBA season. The six-foot forward is currently playing overseas in Italy, averaging 16.2 points per game.

The Seattle Storm drafted Laksa with the 11th overall pick in the 2020 WNBA but this season with the Wings will be her first in the WNBA.

It does appear that Laska will be wearing the number three for the WIngs. That number was last worn by Marina Mabery, now with the Chicago Sky.

Dallas Wings President and CEO Greg Bibb said in a press release “ “Kit has established herself as a premier player in Europe, both in Italy and in EuroLeague play,”

Despite all of the Wings’ roster moves this offseason, the team still lacked three-point shooters. With Laska shooting 41.5% from three in Italy this season, the Wings clearly hit a home run with this addition.

Laska was a pretty highly sought-after player, as multiple WNBA teams were trying to land the former USF Bull. Greg Bibb said “She chose Dallas”, Bibb went on to speak about how it speaks volumes about the direction of the Dallas Wings organization.

With Laska having the ability to play multiple positions, it’ll be interesting to see where in the lineup she slots in at. There is a possibility that Laska could be the starting small forward if the Wings wanted to play Natasha Howard at the four and have Satou Sabally coming off the bench.

No matter if Laska starts or not, the Wings picked up a very elite three-point shooter. Laska will have the ability to come in and make an immediate impact on this Dallas Wings team as they look to achieve their goal of winning in the playoffs.
