Happy Thanksgiving Rangers fans! Despite the past six seasons of losing baseball the Rangers and their fans have plenty of reasons for optimism and hopes for a bright future. Here are five things Rangers fans should be thankful for this holiday season.
Corey Seager and Marcus Semien – Last winter when Corey Seager and Marcus Semien signed mega contracts here in Texas, the Rangers cemented their leadership core of the future. Their two stars both performed well in their first seasons in Texas with Semien posting a WAR of 5.9 and Seager hitting more than 30 home runs and driving in more than 80 runs. Both Semien and Seager will be the leaders of the Rangers’ future championship teams.
Bruce Bochy – Ranger fans we all should be very thankful that a three-time World Series champion manager will be in the dugout for the Texas Rangers to lead them to the promise land. Bochy is one of the greatest managers of all time and has brought a championship-level staff with him to Arlington. There is absolutely zero doubt that the Texas Rangers will have one of the best coaching staffs in baseball next season.
Chris Young and the willingness to spend – It’s becoming very very clear that the Rangers have one of the best GMs in all of baseball. Young and the front offices’ willingness to spend money is making the Rangers championship contenders for many years to come. It’s very exciting to see and I think I speak for all Rangers fans when I say that we are thankful for Chris Young.
Martin Perez being back in Arlington – In 2022 Martin Perez was 12-8 with a 2.89 ERA, Perez was able to provide stability to a Rangers rotation that did not have a lot of that in 2022. Thankfully for Rangers fans, he will be back in 2023 after accepting the qualifying offer. Perez won’t need to be the ace in 23 but he’ll be up there amongst the best number three or four starters in baseball.
Nathaniel Lowe and Adolis Garcia cementing themselves as leaders of the offseason – This season Nathaniel Lowe and Adolis Garcia cemented themselves as two of the four main leaders of the offense that I see moving forward. This season both Garcia and Lowe had breakout seasons and look to continue that success in 2023.
