Early into the season, the Dallas Stars are on fire. They currently sit stop of the central division, and near the top of both the west and the entire NHL. One of the highlights in the Stars’ young season is none other the captain; Jamie Benn

The cap is back

Tonight, the Stars traveled to Edmonton to play the Oilers, and tonight’s win has established that vintage Benn is back. On the strength of a hat trick, the Stars quadrupled the Oilers in a 6-2 road win.

Bouncing back from an offseason of question marks in regards to his contract, and on ice production Benn has at least for the time silenced his critics. Over the summer there were a lot of questions about the captain holding the team back but the team, and Stars’ owner Tom Gaglardi stood behind him.

“If Jamie’s not scoring, Jamie still does a lot for the club. He’s our leader.” Tom Gaglardi said in an interview while talking about Benn.

On a scoring surge

Benn now has three points in back to back games. Registering a goal, and two assists vs Arizona on Thursday night. Along with a three goal night tonight, Benn and the Stars are roaring offensively.

Team first

With recent success from the captain, Benn is always going to be most concerned with how the team is doing overall. For example when Benn won the Art Ross trophy in 2015 he have much credit to teammate, Tyler Seguin.

“He’s a big part of the success that I’ve had,” Benn said. “Obviously we have great chemistry out there. He’s a heck of a hockey player. I’ve got to tip my hat to him too. He’s been a big part of this process.”
