DALSportsNation
The Dallas Stars finished the 2021-22 season with a 46-30-6 record. Those 98 points slotted the Stars into fourth place in the Central Division and earned them the first wild-card position in the Western Conference.
The Stars faced the Calgary Flames in the first round of the playoffs, losing a hard-fought series in 7 games.

The Stars are now 3 seasons removed from advancing to the Stanley Cup Finals out of the Western Conference before losing to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2019 Finals. The team is still well constructed, and Dallas sports bettors are interested in the team’s perceived chances to make another deep run this year.

Below I will look at the odds for a few of the more popular futures bets on the 2022-23 NHL season. I’m using the odds from a popular sportsbook, so they should be similar to what you’d find at most betting sites for Texas residents.

Stanley Cup Winner

The Stars are 25-1 to win the 2022-23 Stanley Cup, and these odds imply a probability of 3.8% that the Stars win the Cup.

Dallas was the 13th favorite to win the Stanley Cup, according to the oddsmaker, coming in behind the Avalanche, Maple Leafs, Hurricanes, Panthers, Flames, Lightning, Rangers, Golden Knights, Bruins, Oilers, Penguins, and Blues.

Central Division Winner

Dallas Stars +350 to win Central Division

Based on these odds, the Stars are being given a 22.2% chance of winning the Central Division in the regular season.

These odds have the Stars as the second favorites in the Central Division, next to only the defending Champion, Colorado Avalanche (-165). It’s interesting that the Stars have much shorter odds to win the Division than the St. Louis Blues (+550), even though the Blues have slightly shorter odds of winning the Stanley Cup.

To Make Playoffs

Dallas Stars -260 to make playoffs. Dallas Stars are +210 to not make playoffs.

Based on these odds, the Stars have a 72.2% chance of making the playoffs this season and a 32.3% chance of missing the playoffs. The extra 4.5% is the sportsbook vig.

According to the oddsmakers, the Stars have a very good chance of making the playoffs. It might have helped that I’m looking at these odds after the Stars’ 3-0 start to the season.

If the Stars can get back to the playoffs, they have a team that has the potential of making a deep run.
