For the second straight weekend, the Dallas Wings played two games, one on Friday and one on Sunday. However, those games were much more friendly to Dallas this time, as they picked up wins in both outings.

On Friday, the Wings took on a red hot Phoenix Mercury team. Phoenix had won four of their last five games coming into the ball game.

Early on in the game, it seemed like Dallas was going to cruise to an easy victory. The Wings lead by as many as 17 points. However, the Mercury would take a late lead in the 4th quarter 80-79, and then went on to tie the game at 83.

Enter Arike Ogubowale to seal the game. Arike would iso out former Dallas Wing Skyler Diggins Smith before hitting a pull-up contested three-pointer to put Dallas ahead 87-83 and seal the win for the Wings.

Dallas would end up having all up one starter in double digits.

Arike would lead the way with 24 points while knocking down six three-pointers. Other notable scorers included McCowan (18), Harrison (16), and, Mabery (14).

The Wings would defeat the Mercury by a score of 93-88

On Sunday, the LA Sparks rolled into town as the Wings were looking to get revenge from their frustrating 93-91 loss at the hands of the Sparks back on May 31st in LA.

Getting revenge is exactly what the Wings would do as they pretty much dominated all aspects of the game to pick up a 92-82 win.

Dallas handed LA their 5th straight loss behind strong performances from Arike Ogunbawale, Allisha Gray, and Marina Mabery.

In fact, those three players combined for 68 points to lead Dallas.

Arike Ogunbowale had a monster weekend putting up 24 points on Friday, and following that with a 27-piece on Sunday.

With the two wins, Dallas improved to .500 (8-8) and moved up to 6th in the WNBA standings.

Looking forward to this week, the Wings have three games all of which are against teams below .500. Dallas has a good chance to really get hot and go on a run over this next week.

On Tuesday the Wings will travel to the ATL to take on the Atlanta Dream (7-8). That game will tip-off at 6:00 PM and will be broadcasted nationally on NBA TV as well as locally on Bally Sports Southwest.

Following that game, Dallas will return home for yet another homestand.

On Thursday, Dallas will host the team with the worst record in the Eastern Conference, the Indiana Fever (5-13). This will be one of the Wings’ three consecutive games with a national tv broadcast, this one on CBS Sports Network. Locally it will still be carried on Bally Sports Southwest.

Then, on Sunday the Phoenix Mercury come back to Dallas for a rematch with the Wings at 7:00 pm. That game will also be broadcasted nationally on NBA TV and locally on Bally Sports Southwest Extra.
