Eli White and Charlie Culberson had a nasty collision in Sunday’s win against the White Sox. You could see Eli mouth “I broke my arm” as he was coming off the field.

White was the Rangers best outfielder so far in 2022, and it is a big loss for the club. No word yet on how long he will be out.

So the man we have all be waiting for has finally arrived to Arlington again. Leody Taveras has been called up to replace White on the roster. Leody had a .820 OPS for the season, and had a batting average around .300 in AAA Round Rock.

If the Rangers had to get someone with speed close to or the same as White, Taveras is that guy. He has plus tools in the outfield and the Rangers hope he can play some good baseball.

For the foreseeable future Leody will be the Rangers center fielder. While we do not know how long White will be out, we know that a fractured wrist will take longer than 10 days to heal.

The Rangers are high on Taveras and for good reason. Hopefully he can cement himself as an everyday outfielder this time with the Rangers. Leody at his best is extremely dangerous for opposing pitchers, especially on the base paths.

It will be fun to watch Taveras over the next few weeks to see if he can rise to the challenge of being the player he projects to be. The Rangers and their fans sure hope he can, that’s for sure.
