Opening Day is quickly approaching and the Texas Rangers roster seems to be changing every day. I thought I would take this opportunity to go ahead and project the opening day roster as of today.

Obviously it is going to change based on moves and on the field play. I still always enjoy projecting rosters, it is one of my favorite things to do going into a baseball season.

Pitching

We will begin by looking at the starting rotation, then the bullpen. This is if the season began today with what has transpired so far in spring training, and it is just for fun!

Jonathan Gray, Martin Perez, Dane Dunning, Taylor Hearn, Glenn Otto. The fifth spot took some thinking, but I have (for now) Otto here. Other options are Spencer Howard, Kolby Allard, A.J. Alexy and Jake Latz.

The first four in the list are basically a lock barring injury. The fifth spot will most likely be a tandem spot, and if that is the case I think it will be Allard with Otto to begin the season.

The bullpen will be as follows (8): Joe Barlow, Josh Sborz, Brett Martin, Dennis Santana, Spencer Patton, Greg Holland (NRI), Brandon Workman (NRI) and Garrett Richards.

If I had to guess this is what I would go with right now, but here is still a chance that John King, Justin Anderson, Nick Snyder and others make the team as camp breaks.

Fielding

This is who I believe will be in the Rangers starting rotation as the season begins on the offensive side of the baseball.

Infield: First Base – Nathaniel Lowe, Second Base – Marcus Semien, Shortstop- Corey Seager, Third Base – Andy Ibanez, and catcher Mitch Garver.

Outfield: Right Field – Kole Calhoun, Center Field – Adolis Garcia and Left Field Eli White.

Designated Hitter – Willie Calhoun

Bench Players – Nick Solak, Zach Reks, Jonah Heim, and Brad Miller.

So here is my 26 man roster for the opening day roster for the Texas Rangers, I am sure I will be wrong on some of these. Let me know what you think in the comments here or on Twitter or Facebook.
