A story that has gotten very little media attention, maybe is not considered a story in Dallas, but Roope Hintz ranked sixth in votes for the Lady Bying trophy.
While he did not receive any first-place votes, he finished the highest on the list for guys who didn’t receive a first-place vote.

Through the 2021 NHL season, Roope Hintz accumulated only four penalty minutes while playing 41 of 56 games, obviously receiving no fighting majors since he never got five minutes for fighting.

Other considerations for the Lady Bying trophy include sportsmanship and performance on the ice. Roope Hintz is not known to say much. This also means, in this case, that he’s not a bad presence on the bench. Hintz is known not only for his world-class speed but also for his work ethic, toughness, and he tends to have a smile on his face a lot. A smile, positive attitude, and hard work sum up sportsmanship.

Roope Hintz also received the nod from the Dallas Stars as the team’s annual selection for the Bill Masterton Trophy, an award each NHL team gets to nominate one player a year.

It is not unusual for an NHL team based in Texas to get much attention for a major award; it’s still worth pointing out a Stars player getting attention from NHL General Managers in their voting.

While this off-season has been largely quiet so far for the Dallas Stars, it’s always fun to get into what’s going on with Dallas – even if the news is not on the ice.
