Everything but the kitchen sink blitzed the Dallas Stars in March.
Despite a 5-6-6 record last month, they are still in the hunt for a playoff spot.

One of the headlines was all the overtime losses that piled up to the current 12-12-10 record. Players like Jason Robertson showed up to play with a terrific month to keep the Stars in the hunt.

April is the make-or-break month for the Stars who have 17 games in 30 days.

How do they get there? The season comes down to their games against the Chicago Blackhawks and Nashville Predators.

The Stars are 5 points behind both the Predators and Blackhawks with four games in hand. It boils down to beating these 2 teams for the final playoff spot because the odds of placing in the top 3 spots remain at less than 1%.

The past-regulation losses are piling up much to the dismay of Stars fans. It’s not often where a record like 12-12-10 happens. They squeeze a point out of games but those extras left on the table count. Four extra points from the 10 OT/SO losses put the Stars in a serious chance swing of qualifying for the playoffs. They need these overtime wins with how many times they go past regulation.

Jason Robertson was the shining star last month with 16 points in 17 games. The young rookie led the way with 5 goals and 11 assists after all the injuries to missing players. The rocky road on the season is because Tyler Seguin and Alexander Radulov are missing lots of time alongside many other players. It’s just been a crazy year so far.

Roope Hintz also stormed out of the gates in March with 13 points in 11 games. It’s good that the Stars have this young talent to make up for all the missing spots due to injury. The taxi squad is seeing lots of movement.

The Stars have four games in April against the Blackhawks and Predators with a regulation win already in Nashville; winning these games puts them closer to the playoffs
If wins pile up during the month then the Stars will still be in the hunt for a playoff spot. They control their own destiny and anything is possible in this sport.
