Well, it’s time for another installment of “Let’s Make A Deal”.
My last idea was met with major scorn over the fact that I wanted to trade Nick Solak for Edwin Rios. I was emphatic in my stance that Nick Solak was not as good a player as Rios. Well, apparently Solak heard about this idea.
He decided it would be fun to make me look like an idiot, sitting in his recliner playing armchair GM. He hit over .400 in the next 7 games. However, I would still love to have Rios even though he strained a hamstring the other day and is on the IL.
The question today is whether the Rangers should be Buyers or Sellers.
With 5 straight losses, 4 grand slams, and a rash of injuries, this team needs to open the garage and put out the sign, “YARD SALE”!
Most around baseball are feeling that the Rangers are going to sell. The farm system isn’t ranked high, but only because of injuries that have slowed the development of their top talent. So top major league ready talent is likely what the Rangers will seek.
Rumors
Earlier in the week, The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal said the Rangers were fielding calls for Lance Lynn.
That seems to be the only national source reporting anything.
Proposed Trades Out There
Jim Bowden proposed a deal for the Rangers to send the Yankees Lance Lynn and Cole Winn for Miguel Andujar and Clarke Schmidt. (This is not a great deal for the Rangers in my opinion) Andujar has struggled this year.
Schmidt is a nice arm who hasn’t pitched above AA. The Rangers should want a starting pitcher who is ready to step into the rotation.
MY BLOCKBUSTER TRADE IDEA
Rangers would send Lance Lynn, Shin-Soo Choo, Cole Winn, and a PTBNL to the Dodgers. Dodgers would send back 3B Edwin Rios, RHP Tony Gonsolin, and two PTBNL.
The Dodgers would insert Lynn into the rotation and have another bat to DH, play left field, or come off the bench to pinch-hit in Choo. They would be the World Series favorites and it wouldn’t be close.
Texas would move Gonsolin into the rotation and have a corner bat with power in Rios. Rios is on the IL with a mild hamstring strain but would return soon.

PTBNL conditions:
If the Dodgers win the World Series, they would send Texas RHP Josiah Gray and SS Alex Dejesus. The Rangers would send them RHP Jason Bahr.
PTBNL conditions:
If the Dodgers do not win the World Series, they would send Texas 2B/SS Omar Esteves and RHP Jimmy Lewis. Texas would send back RHP Yerry Rodriguez.
This means a potential deal would be, Lynn, Choo Winn, and Bahr for Rios, Gonsolin, Gray, and Dejesus. Or, Lynn, Choo, Winn, and Rodriguez for Rios, Gonsonlin, Esteves, and Lewis.
