In round 1 Dallas kicked things off with a ground-shaking move by selecting a wide receiver, Ceedee Lamb, at No. 17.

Now Dallas instantly upgrades their receiving core after the departure of Randall Cobb. This also now becomes a real threat to the rest of the league as Cooper and Gallup receive a real Ace to fill in their slot position.

With the first round in the rearview mirror, Dallas now has to decide how they will attack day 2 of the draft.

The team still has many glaring needs across the board, but these players could step in and be successful.

Round 2 – Pick 51: Curtis Weaver, DE // Boise State

Many fans wanted the Cowboys to select defensive end, K’Lavon Chaisson, in round 1 over the receiver Lamb. However, no need to panic because there is still plenty of options left on the table.

Curtis Weaver doesn’t have the body type of Chaisson, but his production speaks for itself. During his time at Boise St. he posted up 34 sacks alongside 46.5 tackles for loss. His ability to get to the quarterback is ideal for Dallas after losing Robert Quinn in free agency. Its also no secret that Jerry Jones is a fan of Boise players, which makes this pick more likely than most expect.

Round 3 – Pick 82: Bryce Hall, CB // Virginia

Hall brings everything to the table from a looks standpoint of view. Standing at 6’1 with 32 1/4 inch arms gives him the look of an ideal corner. During his 4 years at Virginia, he showed his ability to handle himself on an island against receivers. He recognizes shorter routes and is able to jump at them in a blink of an eye.

His senior year was cut short due to an ankle injury. However, in those 6 games, he still put up 20 tackles, 1 sack, and 4 pass defenses. He was well on his way to show the league what he was capable of. Having a player of his caliber would give the secondary a jolt in the right direction. It’s also a plus that Bryce isn’t under extreme pressure to be the team’s number 1 corner out of the gate.

Dallas could go in many different directions with these picks. Now we just wait and see who gets picked where, and how much they will impact this 2020 roster.

Regardless of how they pick, the Cowboys are off to a great start with their new 1st rounder pick Ceedee Lamb.
