The Dallas Stars are in a good position to secure a high playoff seed this postseason, but that could all change quickly.
Out of their 15 games in February, 10 are on the road and 2 of their 5 home games are against 2019 playoff teams.
13 of the 15 teams currently have winning records and all are aiming for a late-season playoff push.
It won’t be easy, but that’s part of the journey, right?
The Stars are the definition of a streaky team. They play like they have won the Cup seven straight years and some nights, even some periods, they look like they should be playing in your local beer league. Their offense goes cold and stays cold way too often and way too long, but when it’s on, it is a thing of beauty. If you’re a Stars fan, that makes your life a whole lot more stressful than it has to be, but it definitely makes being a fan that much more exciting.
February will be a season-definer for the Stars. With their schedule and their streaky performance, they could climb up the standings by doubling up points on their opponents in head-to-head games or could fall completely out of contention with a string of bad games against their competing foes within their conference and division.
You only get so many prime years with your franchise players, and the Stars are on the downhill slide with theirs. In a way, February 2020 could be a franchise-deciding month for this hockey team.
Be Loud. Wear Green. Go Stars.
