With the winter transfer window opening in MLS, clubs have begun signing players for the upcoming 2020 season. This weekly column will be covering all the outgoing and incoming transfers and rumors that concern FC Dallas.

Outgoing

Pablo Aranguiz to Universidad de Chile

It had been reported fro the greater part of three weeks that Aranguiz was going to stay in Chile this year. We mentioned it in the last transfer roundup. However, it was finally confirmed by FC Dallas on Monday that Pablo was going to spend the year with U. de Chile, who is one of Chile’s largest teams historically but are currently in the Chilean First Division’s relegation zone.

It was seen by many in the fanbase that Aranguiz did not fit Lucchi’s system, so this move seems imminent. It is disappointing that the club was not able to get the best out of the Chilean, but the club still seems to have hope in his talent, as shown by the loan. The Chilean club has an option to buy Aranguiz at the end of the loan.

Moises Hernandez to Antigua GFC

Moises Hernandez spent the entire year on loan to San Antonio FC in the USL Championship. At the end of the season, the Guatemalan was not resigned by FC Dallas. He has now signed a contract with Antigua GFC, a club in the Guatemalan first division who came in second place in the Apertura last season.

Moises Hernandez returning in 2018 always seemed like a backup signing until certain younger Homegrowns were prepared to fulfill the role, so this move is not surprising. He will always be remembered as one of the first Academy products to play a big role in the squad.

Incoming

Eddie Munjoma to FC Dallas

Eddie Munjoma had one of the best seasons last year for anyone in the college system, netting 12 goals and 7 assists from the right-back position. According to the Athletic, FC Dallas and the Academy product are currently in discussions to sign Munjoma to a Homegrown contract for the 2020 season.

The signing of Munjoma has been clamored by many in the fanbase. If Reggie Cannon does end up leaving, whether to Europe or reportedly Mexico, the right-back position becomes really thin, with only 18-year-old Bryan Reynolds in that position. Munjoma is regarded as an able replacement to Reggie, and it would make sense if the club ended up signing the former Mustang.

It’s been a slow rumor mill during the holidays, but as the transfer windows in the European leagues begin to open up, the rumors and possible transfers will come in hot. Who do you hope signs with FC Dallas in January? Let me know!
