The Cowboys crushed the Giants to open the season 35-17, and it is time to overreact. Each week after the Cowboys play, I will overreact to the game and either get too excited or too upset.

Judging by what the Cowboys did to the poor New York Giants last week it looks like I will be getting excited more often than not. Please note that my opinions might be unnecessary and wrong and they will probably change from week to week.

OVERREACTION #1: Dak Prescott

I know it was the Giants, and I know we have only seen one game, but Dak Prescott looks perfect. Literally, perfect. His 158.3 passer rating is the best rating a quarterback can have and Dak is the first Cowboy to do it since 1969. The “Checkdown King” also threw for 405 yards and four touchdowns to four different receivers. Prescott is playing like he wants a paycheck. Pair that with a weakness-less offense and the Cowboys might surprise some people.

OVERREACTION #2: Kellen Moore

Kellen Moore is the genius offensive mind the Cowboys have needed.  He has coached in one game and I already like him more than I liked Linehan.  What really changed from this year to last year? The only additions the Cowboys made to the offense were Randall Cobb and Kellen Moore. This proves Moore is already better now than I ever saw Linehan. In an alternate universe where Jerry Jones never fired Scott Linehan, last week’s win against the Giants would look a little different…

The Dallas Cowboys beat the New York Giants 17-14 on a game-winning 47-yard field goal from Brett Maher. Ezekiel Elliott rushed for 160 yards and two touchdowns on 32 carries. Dak Prescott threw for 140 yards, while Amari Cooper caught six passes for 64 yards and Michael Gallup caught two passes for 24 yards.

The Cowboys scored five touchdowns against the Giants. All five different players were responsible for them (besides Dak Prescott.) Linehan was never a great offensive coordinator and the team is proving now that he was the only thing holding them back.

OVERREACTION #3: Michael Gallup

The Cowboys spent all off-season talking about Ezekiel Elliott’s holdout, Dak Prescott’s and Amari Cooper’s contract, and Tony Pollard’s breakout training camp.  Why did nobody talk about Michael Gallup?  Gallup caught seven passes for 158 yards.  This is the best player that nobody is talking about.  He was thrust into a WR1/WR2 role last season and he did not flourish. Once the Cowboys inserted Amari Cooper into the offense, Gallup got better, but this season it looks like his potential will be maximized.

Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup are a top-five wide receiver duo in the league right now based off of the performance we saw against New York.
