Last night after much anticipation the Mavericks were able to acquire Isaiah Roby, a 6’8 forward from Nebraska.
Initially, the team selected Deividas Sirvydis of Lithuania with their scheduled 37th pick but agreed to trade his rights to the Pistons for Roby and two future second-round picks. A wingspan of 7’1 gives him an ideal defensive physique. Hopefully, he shows the ability to guard multiple positions on the next level. He showed glimpses of this while at Nebraska.
The former Cornhusker is excited about his new journey after completing three seasons with the team. In his final season with Nebraska Roby averaged 12 points and seven rebounds per game. He is the last Nebraska hoops star to be drafted in the last 20 years.
