The time has come to update my roster prediction for the 2019 Opening Day.

This one is easy because the Rangers made my decision for me. It’s hard to keep a player on your roster prediction when he is demoted to minor league camp. Only an idiot would do that. So, I guess it’s not completely out of the realm of possibility.

With all that in mind, here is the second go at roster predictions….

ROTATION

Mike Minor, Lance Lynn, Drew Smyly, Edison Volquez, Shelby Miller

BULLPEN

Jessie Chavez, Connor Sadzeck, Chris Martin, Zack McAllister, Shawn Kelley, Jeffery Springs

CLOSER

Jose Leclerc

INFIELD

Asdrubal Cabrera, Elvis Andrus, Roughned Odor, Ronald Guzman, Matt Davidson

OUTFIELD

Joey Gallo, Delino Deshields, Nomar Mazara, Willie Calhoun, Hunter Pence

CATCHER

Jeff Mathis, Isiah Kiner-Falefa

DH

Shin-Soo Choo

The players in bold are the new players I predict will make the team. While I have touted Patrick Wisdom as a possible breakout player, the Rangers don’t see it yet. He was sent to minor league camp. That opens the door for Matt Davidson who has continued to impress in spring. Plus he has the whole RELIEF PITCHER angle. In the bullpen Jefferey Springs has replaced Kyle Bird

No offense to Bird, but Springs has been better and is also a left hander. We will make one more run at this before the final roster spots are announced. I don’t see any big changes coming unless an injury occurs.
