With the recent injury of Ben Bishop, Anton Khudobin has really stepped up to help carry the Dallas Stars to playoff contention. In Khudobin’s short time in Dallas, he’s quickly become a fan favorite, earning the nickname “Dobby”. Khudobin has been a backbone for this team with amazing skill.

On the ice, Dobby has made a big difference. In his 25 game starts for the Stars, Dobby has is a split 10-10-3 with a save percentage of .927. This season, Dobby has preformed 2 shut outs, the most he’s had in a season and there is a change he’s gonna grab a few more. In the 3 games since starter Ben Bishop’s injury, Dobby has faced 93 shots and saved 87 of them, resulting in a .935 save percentage, not to mention that one of these games was a shutout.

Off the ice, Dobby was quickly taken in by the Dallas Stars fan base. He’s an honest player who will tell you exactly what he’s thinking. Another thing that fans love, he’s a goalie that will throw hands if he feels he needs to. Following a scruff with Ryan Hartman, Dobby called out Hartman for pestering him during two periods and diving after he tripped over Khudobin’s leg. Following the game Dobby told the media he said to Hartman: “What are you gonna do, diver?”

Acquiring Dobby has been one of the best moves that Dallas has made this season. On July 1st, Dobby signed a two-year, $2.5 million dollar contract with the Stars. At the age of 32, Dobby doesn’t look like he’s slowing down anytime soon.
