The 2019 All-Star game is upon us!

The All-Star Game is scheduled for January 26, 2019 and will be played in San Jose. This year, the Dallas Stars are sending rookie Miro Heiskanen, who we talked about last week and who has only seemed to get better since then. Miro is only the second player in franchise history to be named an All-Star in his rookie season.

Miro’s nomination has come as a surprise to no one. So far in 41 games, Miro has nine goals, two of which were pulled in the Stars’ victory over the New Jersey Devils on January 2. Miro has also snagged 10 assists and achieved a rating of -5. Miro has been on fire throughout his rookie campaign and he’s going to stay hot for a long time to come. When asked in a post game scrum about how he felt about being voted in, Miro said:

“Feels great. When I was younger, [I] looked up to those All-Star games and now I can go there so it feels great.”

Last year, the Stars sent John Klingberg and Tyler Seguin to Tampa for the 2018 All-Star Game and this year the Stars are looking at sending Seguin back. The All-Star games have a “Last Man In” vote where fans can vote for one final player from each division to complete the roster. Tyler Seguin is up for the last spot in the Central Division. In the first 41 games of the season, Seguin has 13 goals and 23 assists with a rating of +13. Not to mention that Tyler is currently on a 10 game point streak. He’s been leading the Stars in points and assists as well as maintaining the best +/-. Seguin is a definite All-Star and very deserving of the final roster spot.

Although Tyler Seguin is nothing if not selfless. In last night’s post-game interviews, a reporter asked Seguin how he feels about being included in the “Last Man In” vote, with Seguin saying he was confused and didn’t really know what it was. When asked if he had a campaign slogan to give the fans, he replied:

“No, no, no. You guys don’t have to vote for me, it’s okay. Let Miro take it all”

You can vote to send Tyler Seguin to the All-Star Game here. Each fan gets 10 votes a day, so don’t forget to go back tomorrow! As much as we appreciate Miro and representing the Stars alone, it’s fair to say that Seguin deserves to be there as well!
