Up to date as of Saturday September 29, 2018 @ 5:34pm *Last Update: Playoff Clinching Scenarios*
I’m experimenting with something new and going to try to make a weekly new post on FC Dallas. An effort will be made to update this page as news comes out pending school, life, and work.
Senior Team
FC Dallas gets a huge 3 points versus the Vancouver Whitecaps
FC Dallas traveled north of the US border to play against an in-conference team. While earlier scores involving Sporting Kansas City, Seattle Sounders, Portland Timbers, Real Salt Lake, and Seattle Sounders all losing their matches made this road game all that more important for the Huntsmen to pick up some space in the standings. Space is what they did in their 2-1 win over the Whitecaps to jump back into 1st place in the Western Conference. Vancouver would later sack their coach (Carl Robinson) following their loss. It seems rather strange to fire your coach with 5 games left in the season and when the playoffs are not entirely out of your reach.
They lead with 2 points over Sporting Kansas City. Los Toros have 5 games left in the season and have 53 points to their name. They now only need 3 more points (a win or 3 draws) to clinch a playoff spot. The Hoops can clinch their playoff berth via these scenarios (courtesy via Carter Baum from FC Dallas and mlssoccer.com)
- Win vs. Portland
- Draw vs. Portland
- Loss vs. Portland AND Galaxy draw vs. Whitecaps FC
- Loss vs. Portland AND Galaxy-Whitecaps FC draw
- Loss vs. Portland AND Real Salt Lake draw vs. Sporting KC
- Loss vs. Portland AND Real Salt Lake loss vs. Sporting KC
FC Dallas can miss qualifying for the playoffs this weekend if Real Salt Lake and Vancouver win and FCD lose or draw to Portland
FC Dallas plays this Saturday, September, 29th @ 9:30 pm on TXA-21 or ESPN+ as they take on the Portland Timbers. Also, check out this video of the team celebrating. It’s great that the team spirits are high.

Oscar Pareja and the USSF (United States Soccer Federation) frenzy
On Monday, there was a report from Dallas Spanish Media Al Dia that while the team was in Vancouver, that the USSF had reached out to Papi with interest on Oscar becoming the new USMNT coach. This drew much attention not only in the FCD world but also in the national soccer media with MLS posting an article on it.
On Tuesday morning, multiple reports came out that Oscar Pareja and the USSF did not hold any talks with Papi himself denying that there were any talks and that he is focused on the team at the current moment.
Cristian Colmán Paraguay Call-Up
On Tuesday, Cristian Colmán was called-up to the Paraguayan National Team. This is the first time that he is called up to the senior team as he has had experience. He was called up 3 times with the Paraguay U-23 team. While Paraguay has no scheduled friendlies in the October window, Paraguay Manager Juan Carlos Osorio will look to get a feel for his team and the talent and depth that Paraguay has. Miguel Almiron of Atlanta United was also called up.

Regardless of your stance on Colmán, it is great whenever a player gets called up for their national team. Hopefully, this will give Colmán a boost and can up his level of play.

Peter Luccin and Marlon Luccin
FC Dallas’ Jhannet Sanchez did a great report on former FC Dallas player Peter Luccin and his son Marlon who is in the FC Dallas Academy. The bond between parent and child is a special on and Marlon expressively shows his appreciation for father and the work that he has done.
"I always want to tell him thank you and thank you, that he shared this sport." A raw and emotional Marlon Luccin reveals the passion he and his dad, former @FCDallas midfielder Peter Luccin, share for the game of soccer. More: https://t.co/to6hsBXsix pic.twitter.com/ZQQP3X1zzx
